Many people want to know how to get to Narita Airport.

Lots of travelers use Narita Airport for trips and business, and it’s only natural to want to reach the airport by the method that best suits their purpose.

In this article, we’ll introduce:

  • How to get to Narita Airport
  • The benefits of using NearMe
  • Access from Haneda to Narita

Be sure to use this as a reference!

4 Ways to Get to Narita Airport

First, let’s introduce four ways to get to Narita Airport.

  1. Train
  2. Limousine bus
  3. Taxi
  4. NearMe

[Access Method 1] Train

The first option is getting there by train.

By train, you can use either of the following two lines.

  1. Keisei Skyliner
  2. Narita Express

Keisei Skyliner

The Keisei Skyliner is a limited express train connecting Ueno and Nippori in Tokyo with Narita Airport.

With only 4 stops, it can get you to Narita Airport in as little as 36 minutes.

The four stops are:

  1. Keisei-Ueno Station (starting/ending point)
  2. Nippori Station
  3. Airport Terminal 2 Station
  4. Narita Airport Station (starting/ending point)

The journey takes a minimum of 44 minutes from Keisei-Ueno Station to Narita Airport Station, and a minimum of 36 minutes between Nippori Station and Airport Terminal 2 Station.

(Reference: Skyliner timetable)

Depending on the time of day, it may take a few minutes longer than the minimum time, but a major advantage is that with only 4 stops, you can get to the airport smoothly.

The fare is ¥1,270 for the basic ticket plus ¥1,250 for the Liner ticket, for a total of ¥2,520 for adults, and about half that, ¥1,270, for children.

If you pay for the basic ticket with Suica, it’s discounted to ¥1,257 (total ¥2,507; ¥1,258 for children).

*Children = ages 6 to 11 (including 12-year-old elementary school students)

Narita Express

This train directly connects Narita Airport with major stations including Tokyo, Shinagawa, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Yokohama, and Omiya. It runs from as early as 5 a.m. to as late as 11 p.m.

Since it’s an access train to an international airport, it’s often abbreviated as N’EX from its English name, with foreign passengers in mind.

The service area covers 22 stations: Tokyo, Shinagawa, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Omiya, Musashi-Kosugi, Yokohama, Kichijoji, Mitaka, Kokubunji, Tachikawa, Hachioji, Takao, Totsuka, Ofuna, Chiba, Yotsukaido, Sakura, Narita, Airport Terminal 2, and Narita Airport stations.

A major appeal is that you can reach major stations like Tokyo and Shinagawa in about an hour with no transfers.

However, be aware that it doesn’t stop at every station.

This is because the Narita Express runs on multiple routes, so the stops along the way differ depending on the train.

Tokyo Station is the only stop served by every train, so it’s a good idea to check the timetable in advance before boarding. (Narita Express official timetable)

[Access Method 2] Limousine Bus

The second option is getting there by limousine bus.

There are two types of buses you can take, so we’ll introduce each.

  1. Airport Transport Service (Tokyo Airport Transport)
  2. Airport Bus Tokyo・Narita (AIRPORT BUS “TYO-NRT”)

Airport Transport Service

The limousine bus operates across a wide area of the greater Tokyo region, with one departure per hour.

The fare is ¥2,800 for adults and ¥1,400 for children.

The travel time is about 1 hour 20 minutes from Tokyo Station to the farthest point, Narita Terminal 1.

The available pickup areas are as follows.

You can use the service from Tokyo Station, Nihombashi, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Roppongi, Hibiya, Odaiba, Ebisu, Shinagawa, Shibuya, Futako-Tamagawa, Asakusa, Kichijoji, Nishi-Kokubunji, Tachikawa, Hachioji, Kanagawa, Chiba, and Saitama.

With so many available pickup areas, even people who move around a wide range of the city can use it with peace of mind. However, since there’s only one departure per hour, you’ll need to plan your schedule around the bus’s travel time.

Airport Bus Tokyo・Narita (AIRPORT BUS “TYO-NRT”)

The Tokyo Shuttle, operated by Keisei Bus, can be used for a one-way fare of ¥1,000.

There are only four pickup locations: Tokyo Station, Ginza Station, Oedo Onsen Monogatari, and Toun Bus Depot.

The travel time is about 1 hour 10 minutes from Tokyo Station to Narita Airport Terminal 1. Since pickup locations are limited, people acting away from central Tokyo will need to transfer via train.

Also, since the Tokyo Shuttle is used by many people, be aware that without a reservation you may not be able to board the bus at your desired time.

*As of February 1, 2020, the Tokyo Shuttle and THE Access Narita began joint operations as AIRPORT BUS “TYO-NRT.”

[Access Method 3] Taxi

[Access Method 4] NearMe

The fourth way to get there is NearMe.

NearMe is a door-to-airport shuttle service provided by our company, NearMe, Inc.

We recommend using our NearMe service for those who want to travel safely and comfortably to Haneda Airport.

NearMe’s service area covers the 23 wards of Tokyo.

As for the fare, it’s a flat rate starting from ¥5,980 per person. Note that the following wards have a flat rate starting from ¥6,980 per person.

  • Setagaya Ward
  • Nakano Ward
  • Suginami Ward
  • Itabashi Ward
  • Nerima Ward

*Children under 12 pay half of the above fare.

Benefits of Using NearMe

One benefit of using NearMe is that, since it’s door-to-door transportation, you don’t need to carry heavy luggage around.

NearMe will pick you up at your specified location (within the service area), so all you need to do is wait at the time you booked, and you’ll be taken to Haneda Airport.

This makes for especially comfortable travel when you have a lot of luggage for a business trip or vacation and don’t want to move around much.

Also, since the shuttle comfortably seats up to 9 people, you can spend your time relaxing in the vehicle.

Being able to relax in the car is definitely one of its advantages.

Another appeal is that you can use it for a flat rate and pay smartly via online payment.
