How to Take a Nap at Haneda Airport: Benches, Lounges, and Hotels
9 min read
If your flight departs or arrives in the early morning or late at night, mismatched train and bus schedules can leave you stuck at Haneda Airport for hours.
That’s when it’s handy to be able to take a nap at Haneda Airport. The airport has benches, lounges, and hotels where you can rest, so you can refresh yourself before or after your flight.
This article explains the benches, lounges, and hotels where you can nap at Haneda Airport, including their locations, available hours, prices, and points to watch out for. We also introduce recommended ways to get to Haneda Airport, so be sure to check those out too.
Benches for napping at Haneda Airport
For a short nap, benches are convenient since they’re free to use. Each terminal has its own recommended spots.
- Benches at Terminal 1
- Benches at Terminal 2
- Benches at Terminal 3
When napping on a bench at Haneda Airport, you need to be mindful of security. It’s safest to keep valuables on your person and lock your bag’s zippers with a padlock.
Lobbies can also be bright and noisy, so an eye mask and earplugs will help you sleep more comfortably. It’s also a good idea to bring a blanket or thick socks to stay warm.
Below, we’ll cover each bench location along with the terminal’s operating hours.
Haneda Airport: Benches at Terminal 1
Within Terminal 1, the relatively quiet spot for napping is the bench on the 3rd floor of the North Wing. It’s located up the elevator near Security Checkpoint G on the 2nd floor departure lobby.
However, Terminal 1’s operating hours are generally 5:00 AM to midnight. The departure lobby closes after the last flight departs, and the arrival lobby closes after the last flight arrives, so you cannot stay overnight.
If you want to stay overnight, you can book a room at “First Cabin Haneda Terminal 1,” located inside Terminal 1.
Haneda Airport: Benches at Terminal 2
At Terminal 2, the bench just past Exit 6 in the 1st floor arrival lobby sees little foot traffic, making it easy to nap there. There’s also a shower room nearby (¥1,500/30 min, ¥750 per additional 15 min). It’s available from 5:45 AM to 1:00 PM.
Terminal 2’s domestic area operates generally from 5:00 AM to midnight, while the international area operates from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM. As with Terminal 1, the departure lobby closes after the last flight departs and the arrival lobby closes after the last flight arrives, so overnight stays aren’t possible.
If you want to stay overnight, you can book a room at “Haneda Excel Hotel Tokyu,” located inside Terminal 2.
Haneda Airport: Benches at Terminal 3
Terminal 3 operates 24 hours a day, so overnight stays on the benches are possible. The 1st floor Entrance Plaza has a Lawson convenience store nearby, making it a popular napping spot.
Besides benches, the 2nd floor arrival lobby also has a shower room (¥1,500/30 min, ¥750 per additional 15 min) and a refresh room with reclining chairs (¥3,000/60 min, ¥1,500 per additional 30 min). It’s available from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
Below “Haneda Nihonbashi” on the 4th floor, there are wide benches that are ideal for napping. On the 5th floor, “TOKYO POP TOWN” has few people around at night, so you can sleep peacefully.

Lounges are calmer spaces with sofas, offering more comfortable sleep than benches.

For getting to Haneda Airport, we recommend “NearMe”
“There’s no train or bus that fits my flight time, but a taxi is so expensive…”
If that sounds like you, we recommend NearMe, a shared taxi service available even in the middle of the night or early morning.
Just like a regular taxi, it’s available 24 hours a day at any time you like, yet it’s far more affordable than a taxi. Because it can accommodate early morning and late-night flights, you won’t need to nap at the airport at all.
Sit back comfortably in a spacious vehicle like a Hiace or Alphard for door-to-door access to Haneda Airport. Of course, transfers from Haneda Airport to your home or hotel are also available.
Rates vary by area; a partial rate table is shown below. The first suitcase is free, and each additional suitcase costs an extra ¥1,000.
NearMe currently offers two ride options to fit your needs.
① Door-to-door We’ll pick you up right in front of wherever you like — your home, hotel, or workplace. This is ideal when you have heavy luggage or the weather is bad.
| Area | Adult fare/person | Child fare/person Child (ages 6-11) Junior seat (ages 4-5) Child seat (ages 0-3) |
|---|---|---|
| Ota, Shinagawa wards | from ¥1,980 | from ¥990 |
| Chiyoda ward | from ¥2,480 | from ¥1,240 |
| Koto, Shibuya, Chuo, Minato, Meguro, Setagaya, Bunkyo, Taito, Edogawa, Shinjuku, Sumida wards | from ¥2,980 | from ¥1,490 |
| Arakawa, Nakano wards | from ¥3,480 | from ¥1,740 |
| Suginami, Toshima, Katsushika, Adachi, Kita, Itabashi wards | from ¥3,980 | from ¥1,990 |
| Nerima ward, Mitaka, Musashino, Chofu cities | from ¥4,980 | from ¥2,490 |
| Nishitokyo city | from ¥6,980 | from ¥3,490 |
| Kanagawa Prefecture, Kawasaki city (Kawasaki, Nakahara, Saiwai wards) | from ¥2,980 | from ¥1,490 |
| Chiba Prefecture, Urayasu, Ichikawa cities | from ¥2,980 | from ¥1,490 |
| Chiba Prefecture, Funabashi city | from ¥4,980 | from ¥2,490 |
For reference, a flat-rate taxi from Haneda Airport to Chiyoda ward costs ¥6,900, plus ¥1,950 in highway tolls, for a total of ¥8,850.
NearMe requires no highway tolls, and with the best-value shared rate, it’s from ¥2,480 per person. You can enjoy a comfortable door-to-door service for less than a third of what a taxi would cost.
On the NearMe official website, you can enter your pickup location, date and time, number of passengers, and number of bags to check fares, travel time, and routes. Be sure to take a look.
② NearMe Spot This plan has you gather at a “virtual stop” near a designated station. In exchange for a short walk, you get an even better rate than door-to-door service!
NearMe Spot ↔ Haneda Airport: from ¥2,480
There might be a spot near your nearest station too. New spots are continually being added near major stations such as Jiyugaoka, Sangenjaya, Gakugei-daigaku, Seijogakuen-mae, Nakameguro, and Komazawa-daigaku-mae.
Summary
We’ve covered the benches, lounges, and hotels where you can nap at Haneda Airport, including their locations, available hours, prices, and points to watch out for.
If a short nap will do, the free benches are a good option. If you want more comfort, a calm lounge with sofas is the way to go. And if you want a proper, restful nap, a hotel is the best choice.
For getting between Haneda Airport and your home or hotel, we also recommend NearMe — a cost-effective service that offers taxi-level comfort at a fraction of the price.
Since it’s available 24 hours a day, you won’t need to nap at the airport at all. It’s fully reservation-based with online payment, so pickup and drop-off go smoothly.
If you’re heading to Haneda Airport, be sure to consider giving it a try.
